Manuka Honey is a monofloral varietal produced in New Zealand and Australia from the nectar of the Manuka tree. Characterized as earthy, complex and slightly mineral, it also has a hint menthol notes which leaves a smooth, cool mouthfeel. Its impressive health benefits are due to methylglyoxal (MGO), a naturally occurring compound that makes Manuka honey so effective. Not all Manuka honey is created equal and its MGO amounts vary greatly. Our Manuka honey had been certified as MGO 100+ (>100mg/kg).

Origin: New Zealand | 4oz jars are 2.25" wide x 2.25" tall | 12oz jars are 3" wide x 3.5" tall

Great, high quality honey. I love to have manuka on hand for its health benefits. Perfect on its own or as an addition to your tea when you are feeling under the weather or have a scratchy throat. It’s got a smooth earthy profile, a touch of a mineral aftertaste and it’s not too sweet.

Everything I've read about manuka honey is true. It's certainly unique and has a smooth, earthiness to it. It doesn't have that acidic tang that other honeys do. It's also less sweet than the typical clover or orange blossom honey you find in stores. It has a molasses, almost raisin-like taste with a bit of a mineral finish. The only other manuka honey I've tried is the Trader Joe's one. This is less thick than that one, but is still more viscous than other Adagio honeys. The texture is so velvety soft and coats the mouth in a soothing way. I love eating spoonfuls of it after a long day of talking at work. For an extra dose of comfort, I combine it with Adagio's Throat Therapy and Elderberry Wine. This honey and the super convenient pump are now staples in my house.

This reminds me of the way dark agave tastes. It still tastes like honey but has those notes. I'll be adding it to tea when I'm feeling under the weather.

Another five-star honey from the cute little Adagio Bees. It is earthy, buttery smooth with a medium sweetness and hints of caramel and molasses. It has a slightly mocha-like bitter finish (which we like as we are fans of dark chocolate).

A surprising honey, it's strangely earthy. Not nearly as sweet as your normal clover and orange blossom, but really interesting. I just need to find the best teas to pair it with now.

This honey is great for the immune system, coughs, sore throats, and digestion. It does have a strong earthy-like molasses taste and gets some getting used to. But with all the great benefits this honey has to offer, it's worth it. I don't use this for tea, but it might be good in lapsang souchong tea.

Lore

Honey has long been a source for sweetening a variety of foods and beverages for over 10,000 years. The sweet nectar has also been used for medicinal purposes, served as currency, and been a symbol in many religious and cultural celebrations. Each offers the promise of making your cup of tea just a little bit sweeter.
