Top 10 Teas For Fruit Tisanes Honey

April 07, 2023

And we’re back, with another Top Ten list to pair with another tea-themed honey from those hardworking Adagio bees: Fruit Tisane!

Now, you might be familiar with traditional tea— ahem, just for the record, it’s agreed among tea connoisseurs that “true tea” is anything from the Camellia Sinensis plant— but does the word “tisane” ring a bell?

Some people pronounce it as “tee-sayn,” and some people say that it’s pronounced, “tee-sahn,” and yet some other folks entirely insist that the correct form of pronunciation has to be “tih-sahn” while getting sideyed from the pack that calls it “tih-sayn.”

If you’re wondering who’s most correct here, it’s all of them. Pronounce the word in whichever way feels most comfortable to you— the important part is knowing what the word means, and its ultimate significance!

What are Tisanes?

Tisanes are something to care about because they are a kind of leaf matter steeped in hot water which doesn’t come from the “true tea” plant. This means that tisanes can be comprised of almost anything within edible, palatable, and safely consumable reach:

Fruit
Flowers
Spices
Herbs
Vegetables
Other food products like bones and meat (For real! Check out beef tea, as it was a popular remedy in the Victorian era for poor appetite and digestion.)

So you can imagine, that leaves us with a substantial amount of tea ingredients to choose from! And nearly all are naturally caffeine-free!

To give you an idea of just how much potential there is for non-“true tea” options, I’d be here for the next… Oh, I don’t know. Try an Infinity Gauntlet number of years before getting through half the possible options in your nearest grocery store.

That’s why today, we’re talking only about fruit tisanes.

As long as the pre-existing fruit has been safely dried— no fermenting here, that’s another kind of tea that might be more related to kombucha, which merits another article entirely to do justice to it— into pieces that can release their flavor when steeped in water, that’s what qualifies as a successful fruit tisane.

Here is an in-depth but non-exhaustive list of all the kinds of fruits used in Adagio Teas Fruit Tisanes, to demonstrate what I mean:

Adagio Fruit Tisane Ingredients:
Apple Pieces
Orange Peels
Lemon Peels
Pineapple Pieces
Rose Hips (Yup, they’re a fruit!)
Orange Pieces
Lemon Pieces
Mango Pieces
Blueberry Pieces
Cherry Pieces
Strawberry Pieces
Peach Pieces
Cranberry Pieces

… and so much more! (And yes, we’re counting berries as fond members of the fruit family. Otherwise it would be too much, and the berries would feel sad that they were being neglected for participating.)

About the Honey

Adagio Bees' Fruit Tisane Honey is not one to miss! It's unlike any you find on the grocery store shelves (delicious, but clover honey can be so basic!).

Produced from the nectar of the Black Locust plant, we hand-picked this Raw Honey specifically for its ability to complement our fruit tisanes. This light amber honey is known for its delicate fruity aroma and slightly acidic flavor profile with hints of vanilla.
